Brooklyn-based consumer tech accessories brand Casely, along with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has reannounced a recall of more than 429,000 wireless portable power banks.
This is the second recall notice for the same product and comes after an in-flight incident involving the charger. Although there were no fatalities in this case, the previous recall followed the death of an elderly woman.
Casely first recalled its Power Pods 5000mAh portable MagSafe wireless phone charger (model E33A) in April 2025. The updated notice, issued on April 16, applies to the same model.
In August 2024, a 75-year-old woman from New Jersey died after suffering second- and third-degree burns when the power bank caught fire and exploded in her lap while she was charging her phone.

A short video discovered in the macOS Tahoe 26.7 release candidate appears to show Apple’s rumored camera-equipped AirPods using Visual Intelligence to help Siri understand what a wearer is looking at.
MacRumors found the clip, which shows a man wearing the unreleased AirPods while holding up a book. A voiceover can be heard explaining that Visual Intelligence can save something he sees for later.

Spotify has announced that it will start putting AI Persona badges on some artist profiles in mid-September. The badges are meant to let users know that an artist may have used AI to generate their identity. In other words, the artist’s identity doesn’t represent a real person.
Artists can choose to disclose their AI personas themselves, but Spotify has decided it won’t rely on an honor system anymore. The company will take a proactive approach by reviewing profiles and applying badges to artists whose names and imagery seem to be photorealistic AI-generated identities. X is piloting a new transparency tool called Under the Hood that lets eligible users see whether visibility-related labels have been applied to their accounts or posts.
The social media giant introduced the tool on August 13, along with the release of a much larger portion of the code behind its For You feed, including details about how posts are ranked and filtered.
