Fitbit App Becomes Google Health as AI Coaching Takes Center Stage

Fitbit App Becomes Google Health as AI Coaching Takes Center Stage

On May 19, the Fitbit app will become a thing of the past as Google Health takes over as the new home for the company’s fitness and wellness tools.

The move comes five years after the tech giant acquired Fitbit for $2.1 billion. Google is making the transition easy for existing customers, deploying Google Health as an update and rebranding of the existing app. It has assured users that their Fitbit data will migrate automatically.

Still, longtime Fitbit owners will need to adjust to a new layout. Google Health will organize downloaded data into four tabs: Today, Fitness, Sleep, and Health. Third-party app and device integration will work through Health Connect, Apple Health, and Google Health APIs. U.S. users will also be able to sync their medical records to the app. Continue reading “Fitbit App Becomes Google Health as AI Coaching Takes Center Stage” →

Ask.com Has Shut Down, but Ask Jeeves’ Vision of Search is Everywhere

Ask.com officially powered down its servers on May 1, 2026, bringing an end to one of the internet’s longest-running and perhaps most polite search brands. If you were a fan of the site, you’d probably agree it deserves a better obituary than “old search engine finally shuts down.”

After all, for almost 30 years, Ask.com served as the internet’s most dapper concierge, with many still affectionately referring to it by its original name, Ask Jeeves. That iconic early web brand was based on a simple premise: that a search should be a question, not just a keyword. Amazon Extends Price History Tool to One Year, Providing Much-Needed Transparency Around Deals

Amazon is making it easier for shoppers to gain insight into its fluctuating prices, expanding its price history tool to show up to a year of data. The change, announced May 1, is a significant upgrade over the previous version of the tool, which allowed a lookback of only 30 or 90 days. Even with that limited window, Amazon says more than 50 million people used the feature since it launched in 2024.

The latest update will give customers even greater ability to answer the burning question behind every apparent deal listed on the website: Is this actually a good price?

That’s a question that has nagged at many Amazon customers for years. Many shoppers have expressed suspicion on Reddit, X, and other social media sites that some merchants would raise prices just before announcing a sales event, then sell the items at their regular price, but with a “discount” badge attached.
